Resources for 2012

Football supporters may be frustrated that the World Cup has been away from the green open spaces of Wembley since 1966, but the Olympics last came here in 1948!

So this is a big opportunity for people across the UK... once in a lifetime... to enjoy and soak up the atmosphere.

It’s also a very big opportunity for churches, providing an avenue through sport to connect with their community. Especially those who are switched onto friendship evangelism, Sharing Faith the Jesus Way as author Jim Currin recently describes it.

But you need the preparation done for you. That’s what we are about. So here are three resources to get you thinking about possibilities.

Who comes first Barnabas RE Day

The 'Who comes first?' Barnabas RE Day is a new creative arts-based RE Day that gives schools a chance to explore sporting values and challenges through the eyes of faith and belief. Each workshop encourages pupils to ask hard questions and reflect on what this could all mean for them.

Each session will involve a busy mix of games, reflective storytelling and participative drama, appropriately crafted for age and ability. Workshops normally last 50 - 60 minutes, and will require use of a large indoor space. If requested, a whole-school assembly can be included. The cost is £275 for the whole day, including approximately four workshops and an assembly.
